Family Engagement
Our family engagement room
We are lucky enough at Lliswerry to have a dedicated Family Engagement Room which is used by outside agencies and for in-school purposes.
Families first
'Families First' use our Family Engagement Room to meet with families every Tuesday. It is a Welsh Government programme designed to improve outcomes for children, young people and families. It emphasises prevention and early intervention for families particularly those living in poverty.
Supporting the family often involves many different teams and services. Families First want to ensure that these services work well together so that these families are supported.
In Newport the Families First strands include:
Children & Young People Skills
Family Skills
Family Wellbeing
Confident & Nurturing Families
Children with Additional Needs
Prevention Team TAF Newport
Resilient COmmunities
Family Intervention Workers from the Resilient Communities Team funded by Families First also use the Family Engagement Room. They can offer immediate support and information to families struggling with many presenting issues from family support, housing issues, mental health, finances, home management and support to parenting programmes.
They are the only strand that doesn’t have a waiting list at the moment and they can do an initial assessment with your family and identify what support is suitable. Team members from Resilient Communities are in School every Thursday morning.
